BOWLING TIPS 6 MORE BASICS.
If your ball isn't hooking as much as you'd like it to, play an OUTSIDE LINE which is standing more to the right and playing more angle into the 1-3 pocket. Do the opposite if you're a lefty.
1. If the strike isn't carrying but you're getting a good first ball, try moving back on the lane 4". That will make you release the ball a little sooner and it will have more lane to travel on, and hopefully hook just the little bit you need it to, to then carry the strike.
If this still isn't working, then just go for your spares. All spares and 9's is a 190 which isn't too bad for not having any strikes.Try not to get frustrated, and don't move around too much on the lane. You will start to get confused. This leads to worry and then you will not be focusing and you will definately have a lousy game. I've been there and done that many times.
2. If you're a little tense, take several deep breaths and then exhale vigorously.
3. To slow you're ball down a little, to help it hook a little more, shorten your pendulum swing a bit. You can also walk a little slower or hold the ball down a little lower than normal.
4. To speed up the ball a little for less hook, do the opposite of number 27. Try having a little higher back swing, walk a little faster, or hold the ball up a little higher at the stance than normal.
Keep practicing and doing your bowling exercises. I feel that stronger, more fit people do somewhat better in sports. Don't forget to have fun while you are learning. There is so much to learn so think of it as a challenge rather than a chore.
