*BOWLING TIPS 9 Watching ball *
Bowling Tip # 9 "Watching your ball" It is not only important to:
1) Stand on the proper board and walk up on the approach straight, but it is extremely imperative that you have BALL ACTION on the ball to get the pins to fall down on the first ball. Anyone can hit the pocket area, but if the ball doesn't have anything on it, you probably WILL NOT get a strike!
2) Ball action will separate those normal bowlers from the great ones who have learned to master it.
3) When your ball hits the pin deck, it should look like this. It is important that when your ball rolls over the arrow, you must move your eyes up to watch your ball to make sure it's going like this. If not, you must make a CHANGE so that it will travel in this pattern:
Normal Strike Pattern4) The ball hits the 1 pin hits into the 2 pin,the 2 pin hits into the 4 pin, and the movement of these pins will knock down that 7 pin. During this time, the 3 pin hits the 6 pin and the ball moves left into the 9 pin, and the 6 pin will knock down the 10 pin. The ball hits the 5 pin which will knock into the 8 pin.
5) The ball itself actually will hit into three key pins, the 1, 3, and 5 pin.
6) This will help the pins to lie down in a horizontal position and be able to slide around better on the pin deck to help you carry more strikes. It pins are knocked down in a vertical position, they can slide off the pin deck without knocking into other pins which will not allow you to get a strike.
7) So if you want to get more strikes, make sure your ball is rolling into that 1,3, and 5 pin and getting those pins to move off the pin deck in a horizontal position.
8) To achieve the above, you must put some SPEED and some SPIN to the ball to carry the maximum pins on the first ball. You need to use that 11:00 hand position we talked about in my earlier Blog, and pull the two middle fingers toward you palm to get more REVS on your ball.
Go practicing and start observing the balls pattern, good luck and don't forget to have fun! :D
I always say this because when you are learning so many things at once, it can become tedious and may not be as fun at times. Try to enjoy the game, even when you are learning!
